BITSMUN '14
Ramit Mehta has been associated with MUNs since 2009. He has been a part of 10 MUNs, his favorite being the JCC based on World War 2 in LSEMUN, where he received a Verbal Mention for his espionage as the Mi5 Executive. That served as his inspiration to simulate a JCC based on the Vietnam War in last year's BITSMUN, which was a massive success. He took a year off the circuit in 2010-2011 to teach and introduce the concept of MUN in his alma mater DPS Ahmedabad. He is currently India's Media Associate with California based Model UN firm Best Delegate and is working on a research paper on the introduction of a ranking system for Model UNs in India.
Ramit is a football fanatic, has his own football start up and one day hopes to follow in the steps of greats like Arsene Wenger and Alex Ferguson. He also takes a keen interest in economics, finance and management, his idol being Michael Scott from The Office fame. He hopes to take BITSMUN '14 to new heights by setting a very high standard of organization and debate that his peers can emulate.
Arvind Badri has done around 10 MUNs and he is primarily an "IP guy", as they call them, and believes staunchly in the positive power of efficient journalism. He expects BITSMUN '14 to break its already-high standards with regards to substantive news reporting and newsletter design on the IP front, and to truly produce constructive debate on the delegate front.
He dabbles in writing and journalism, and is a bibliophile-phile. He loves long sentences and has an unhealthy obsession with Led Zeppelin.
Prasanna has been a part of the BITSMUN Hyderabad Society for almost 2 years now. Prasanna's tryst with Model UN has been slightly different. A major part of her work is done behind the scenes. She wasn't a MUNer to begin with but BITSMUN made her fall in love with the concept of Model UN and she sees it as a way to network, grow and meet new people. Another reason for her enthusiasm towards Model UN is because she gets to flex and display her marketing strength for getting sponsors for this prestigious conference. She was a part of the Department of Logistics in BITSMUN '12 and the Department of Sponsorship in BITSMUN '13 and has played an integral part in the success of the society and conference.
Prasanna is a very fun-loving person and you will rarely ever find her without a smile on her face. She hopes that she can continue pulling the strings this year and help BITSMUN to go truly international.
Srujana Rao started her MUNing life with her school's first MUN- HPS MUN 2010. Apart from MUN conferences, she has also attended the HPAIR (Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations) Conference '14. It gave her an amazing exposure to world affairs occurring in real time and helped her to see solutions being implemented. She also got the opportunity to connect with experts in different fields (for instance, a Retired Japan Air Self Defense Lieutenant General). She has won awards like Best Position Paper and High Commendation, and has worked as the Chief Editor of the IP.
She is a rational feminist and voracious reader among other things and the International page is the first page she turns to read in the newspaper! This October she hopes to be on her A-game and looks forward to engaging in lively debate with all prospective delegates at this year's BITSMUN.
Sagar Shah, an avid MUNner and debater, loves to organize and handle events that present new and different challenges each time. Apart from participating in 4 MUNs as a delegate, he was also the director of the UNGA-DISEC during BITSMUN-13. He's been a part of BITSMUN since 2012 and has assumed the role of head of Logistics team for this year.
As a leader and team worker, Sagar's dream has been to take the BITSMUN, notches higher in terms of its standards, every year. BITSMUN turning international is the realisation of a part of the vision that he and BITSMUN team were looking towards. That being said, it will never be the end of the road for him, for he believes that there is never a limit for improvement and success.
Sai Ram Tangirala started off working for BITSMUN in 2013 as a logistics member. Along with that, he was also a delegate in the Emergency Response Council during the same conference. What drew him towards MUNing was the exposure to people from various backgrounds and the opportunity to learn more about world history and international relations. The aforementioned reasons are why he is a part of the BITSMUN OC and hopes to make BITSMUN '14 a successful conference, logistically.
Deepanshu Agarwal had always been interested in the concept of MUN and realized that the technical portions could be improved upon to better streamline all the management and logistics of the conference. With his technical expertise he plans to help in streamlining the technical portions to make BITSMUN '14 reach its full potential.
