BITSMUN '12

BITSMUN '12 was the come-back MUN of sorts for BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus, after they took a year to regroup and rethink their policies. One of the oldest MUNs in Hyderabad, and one of the most actively participated events in the southern MUN circuit, BITSMUN simulated UNGA, UNHRC, NATO and UNSC in its '12 edition.

The event was held in the beautiful BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus, and the delegates were treated to a typically Hyderabadi dinner on day 2 of the event. While in UNGA, Israel was pressurized into saying that they'd provide economic aid for Palestine, UNHRC saw a very active debate from the delegates, one particular debate seeing 49 speakers wanting to talk among the assembled 50 (the other one had just finished speaking).

NATO were able to provide a successful solution to the situation in Afghanistan, much to the delight of the Afghan delegate, and UNSC remained unresolved on the issue of the Syrian conflict - which says nothing, really, about the amazing debate that went on. The International Press, though cut down to five members, went on to release brilliant newsletters based on two opinionated news houses (BBC and Fars) and for the first time in BITSMUN, introduced a presence in twitter.
